EFL Season 23/24 Football Betting Preview
The day we have all been waiting for all summer is here. We are just as excited as you are.
Today sees the Championship campaign get underway with newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday taking on Southampton at Hillsborough.
This weekend also sees the return of the Leagues 1 and 2. All the fixtures will start at 3pm GMT and there are some big games to look forward too! A couple that are worth a mention are Derby County vs Wigan in League 1 and the much loved Wrexham taking on MK Dons in their League 2 opener.
Which teams are favourites for promotion?
Championship Favourites for promotion-
After a very successful transfer window so far, Leicester City have been priced at 11/8 with SkyBet to return to the Premier League and not many could argue with those odds.
Leeds United are currently second favourites to get promoted back to the Premier League and are best priced 15/8 with BetUK
League One favourites for promotion-
Derby County are currently the favourites to get promoted to the Championship and are currently priced at 13/8 with Bet365 Last season The Rams missed out on the playoffs by just a point.
Bolton Wanderers are another of the fancied sides and have been priced at 5/2 to be promoted with Grosvenor Sport. The Wanderers will be looking to return to the Championship for the first time in five years.
League Two favourites for promotion-
Newly promoted Wrexham are currently 10/11 with Bet365 to be promoted this season. However, Wrexham will be without their top goalscorer from last season, Paul Mullen for the first 6-8 weeks of the season due to him picking up a nasty injury in their preseason win against Manchester United.
Coming in second favourites for promotion from League 2 this season are Stockport County who are priced at 11/8 with Tonybet The Hatters marginally missed out on promotion last season by just four points.
The favourites to finish as top goalscorer
Championship Top Goalscorer –
Jamie Vardy is currently the favourite at 10/1 with BetUK to finish on the most goals in the Championship this season. The thirty-six year old will be looking to return to the Leicester side, after being benched for a number of games last season.
The 2022/23 Championship top goalscorer Chuba Akpom is best priced at 11/1 again with BetUK to win the golden boot for the second season in a row.
League One Top Goalscorer –
Colby Bishop and Jonson Clarke-Harris are currently joint favourites to get their hands on the golden boot in League One. Both players are being priced at 8/1 with BetStorm – Bishop finished last season’s campaign with twenty goals for Portsmouth.
Clarke-Harris picked up a fantastic return of twenty-seven league goals for Peterborough last season. The Jamaican forward will be looking to pick up back to back golden boots and therefore help Peterborough reach the playoffs for the second season in a row.
League Two Top Goalscorer –
The clear favourite for the golden boot in League Two this season is Macauley Langstaff. The Englishman will be looking to add to his outstanding record of forty-two goals in just 45 games for Notts County. Langstaff is currently priced at 6/1 with BetUK
David McGoldrick will be looking to make a mark at Notts County, after recently signing from Derby County. The Republic of Ireland International is best priced at 9/1 to get his hands on the golden boot with BetUK
Our recommended football bets for the season
We believe that Leicester City to be promoted is the best pick of them all. The Foxes are currently 11/8 to be promoted back to the Premier League.
We also recommend Clarke Harris at 8/1 to become the golden boot winner for the second season in a row is an outstanding option.
