On Tuesday night in the Champions League, we see Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. Both sides will both be fancying their chances to reach the final and whichever of these two sides make it to the final, they’ll be massive favourites to win this season’s competition with the winner taking on either AC Milan or Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Previous matchup
In the 2021/2022 season, the two sides faced each other at this stage of the Champions League. Manchester City won the first leg 4-3. However, Real Madrid found a way back into the game and went on to beat Manchester City 3-1 in the second leg which meant Ancelotti’s side advanced into the final after winning 6-5 on aggregate.

Manchester City are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, after beating Leeds United by two goals to one on Saturday afternoon.
In the previous round of the Champions League, Pep Guardiola’s side played Bayern Munich and were victorious 4-1 on aggregate over the two legs. Manchester City will be looking to win their first long awaited Champions League title this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently sat 3rd in the La Liga table. In their previous league game, they were victorious 4-2 against Almeria, thanks to a hatrick from Karim Benzema and a goal from Rodrygo. The Spanish side faced Chelsea in the quarter finals and annihilated them 4-0 on aggregate.
Key players missing
Manchester City are currently without Nathan Ake, after he was forced off after picking up a hamstring injury against Leeds United. Real Madrid will be without Ferland Mendy on Tuesday night after he picked up a thigh injury in early April. The Spanish side will also be without Eder Militao. The Brazilian will be out due to a one game suspension for picking up a yellow card in their previous round of the Champions League against Chelsea.
