Thursday night, in the Europa League, we see Manchester United take on Sevilla in the 1st leg of the quarter-finals, at Old Trafford. The English side will be looking to take the lead into the second leg which will be played at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium a week today.
Head to head
Previously we have seen these two teams face each other in the 2020/21 semi-finals of the Europa League. On this occasion, Sevilla advanced to the final after beating Manchester United 2-1 where they went on to beat Inter Milan to lift the trophy.

Manchester United’s league form has vastly improved under the reign of Erik Ten Hag and they are now sitting fourth in the Premier League table, after previously winning their last two games against Everton and Brentford. Sevilla are currently sitting 13th in La Liga and after underperforming this season domestically they will be hoping to win the Europa League again this season to give them the chance to play Champions League football next season. In the previous round of the Europa League, Sevilla was victorious over Turkish side Fenerbahce by an aggregate scoreline of 2-1.
Key players missing
Alejandro Garnacho is still out of the Manchester United squad due to an ankle injury which he picked up against Southampton in early March. Another big name on the treatment table for Manchester United is Luke Shaw. Unfortunately, he pulled up in United’s game against Brentford, due to a hamstring injury.

Sevilla’s top goal scorer this season has been the Moroccan striker, En-Nesyri. He has positively impacted Sevilla this season and has contributed massively to the number of goals they have scored. En-Nesyri has bagged ten goals this season in the league.
One to watch for Manchester United is a world-class player in the form of Marcus Rashford. This season we have seen a drastic change in his performances. Last season Rashford only registered four goals and two assists in the 25 games he featured in. Whereas this season in the Premier League alone, Rashford has significantly more goals (15) in 29 games he has played in. Rashford has also provided his teammates with four assists. In the Europa League, Rashford has played eight games and has got eight goals contributions, six goals and two assists.
