🕗 Tuesday 11th April, 20:00 GMT
This Tuesday evening, in the Champions League, we see Manchester City take on Bayern Munich in the 1st leg of the quarter-finals, at the Etihad Stadium in what can only be described as a titanic tussle. The English side will be looking to take the lead into the second leg which will be played at the Allianz Arena next week.
Head to head
Previously we have seen these two teams face each other in 2022 in a pre-season friendly. Manchester City won that game 1-0 and it’s where we saw Haaland land his first goal in Manchester City colours, only taking him twelve minutes to open the scoring.
Manchester City’s form
Recently, Manchester City have picked up form as they look to crank up the pressure on Arsenal in the Premier League title race. In the previous round of the Champions League, Manchester City faced Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga rivals, RB Leipzig, where they annihilated them 7-0 at home and by an overall score of 8-1 on aggregate. In the Premier League, Manchester City have previously gone on a brilliant unbeaten run and have won seven and drawn one in their last eight games. In the previous Premier League game against Southampton, Manchester City won 4-1, where we saw Haaland officially reach the 30-goal mark of the season after scoring a brace.

Bayern Munich’s form
In the Bundesliga this season, Bayern Munich are now sitting top of the league and are hoping to make it eleven league titles in a row which is some achievement regardless of what league you are in. In their previous eight Bundesliga games, they have won six and lost two games and they’ll be looking to carry on this form to ensure they win another league title. In the last round in the Champions League, they knocked out the mighty PSG by 3 goals to 0 on aggregate over the two matches.
Manchester City’s key man is undoubtedly Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has positively impacted City this season and has contributed massively to the number of goals they have scored so far. Haaland has scored ten goals this season in the Championship League. Manchester City’s star man has also had thirty-five goal contributions in the Premier League, scoring thirty and assisting five. Haaland is looking to break many records in his first season in the Premier League and is currently only five goals away from beating the record of thirty-four, held by Alan Shearer.
Bayern Munich’s star man this season has been Jamal Musiala. The German youngster has had a huge impact on Bayern Munich this season and has been involved in a whopping twenty goal contributions, scoring eleven and assisting nine. With Musiala’s form this season, he will have an enormous price tag, if anyone wants to take him from Bayern Munich.
